As the temperatures continue to climb, it's hard to imagine that criterium race season is coming to a close. While there may still be several weeks of great riding weather, race dates are dwindling, leaving many racers to turn their focus to one of the biggest cycling events in the Midwest, the Gateway Cup in St Louis, Missouri. Gateway is a top tier event, drawing racers from all corners of the US. The pre-registration docket shows people coming from as far as New York, Colorado, Texas, and California. To say the competition is fierce would be putting it mildly! This is an event that The Wheel Race Team looks forward to every year because it gives you a chance to put yourself against the best men and women in your field. As of right now, we have our racers registered, the bikes are in tip-top shape, and team is looking lean and mean, coming off several weekends of racing in top form.

We had a strong showing at Missouri State Crit, with 3 racers showing up to show their stuff. The results show, The Wheel is bringing it!

The boys had big fun at Cathedral Criterium, with Category 4 racer John Witt placing 4th and 6th on Saturday and Sunday.

It's hard not to be antsy about this weekend, it all comes down to this! But in the words the great Jens Voigt "...be brave. Be courageous. On Sunday night, if you have some energy left, it's too late. There is no stage on Monday."
